Exclusive Opus VII Spoiler: Fritt 7-004C
We are so excited for our Opus VII spoiler: Fritt! There are a lot of reasons to like this guy, so let’s get into it.
Fritt is another in the cycle of Forwards that are also Monsters. At 2 CP, he is costed comfortably as a 4000 Power Forward / Monster. When he hits the Break Zone, you may search your deck for one card named Ifrit and put it into your hand.
Fritt is a card that can flex into a dual role of effective combat and effective defense. Your opponent must reconcile the fact that, if they block meaningfully or attack into Fritt, they give you a Summon that can finish off their damaged Forward (or target another one). The most meaningful things here: Fritt is 2 CP. That gives him a lot of synergy with Water and Fire cards, which is an archetype we think will be important for this card.
Since Fritt will functionally draw you a card when he hits the Break Zone (assuming you play Ifrit cards, which you will if you’re playing Fritt), the most attractive aspect to us is his total CP cost. At face value, if your opponent does nothing to stop his Break Zone trigger, Fritt is a net 0 CP card. But, there are lots of strong cards that can make Fritt function at even higher efficiency.
Fritt synergizes with both copies of Gadot currently in print. Playing Opus I Gadot, you can cheat Fritt in for free, further exploiting his CP value. With Opus IV Gadot, Fritt gains some significant Power level and potentially haste.
In Water, Fritt finds friends with Relm, Mira, and Gau. Relm is another CP-efficient card that often finds a card you functionally can draw, when she enters. If that card is Fritt, you can continue the CP efficiencies. Mira’s ability can keep Fritt around after the first copy breaks. Fritt feels like a great target for Gau, who gives you a decent Forward if you target Fritt to enter play for free.
Here’s the build we’re brewing for Fritt. We think this list emphasizes the values that the card offers.
We’re looking at two Ifrit cards that both have EX Bursts and do an acceptable rate of damage by themselves. The Ifrit that is most improved by Fritt is Ifrit 5-003C, since Fritt serves as a functional tutor to turn this Ifrit into a 10000 shot. Since we’re building a list that can recur Fritt potentially more than 3 times, we’re running full sets of each.
Schrodinger is a card that combos well with Fritt, as you can activate multiple modes if Fritt is the card you reveal. As more of Opus VII is revealed, perhaps the Green Dragon and Goblin turn into different cards to further chase Schrodinger value.
We opted for Relm over Mira here, since we have access to Sabin as well, which brings Strago into our fold and gives us some Category VI synergy. Gadot is going to be friendly with Relm and all of our Monsters, including Fritt.
This new cycle of cards looks very promising and we’re excited for this part (and many others!) of Opus VII. Let us know if you plan to use Fritt, and any cool synergies you can think of.
Thanks for reading!
