Friday Futures Series
…it is apparently a Rogue, outcast from its Kin, a Stranger in a strange Land, no longer possessed of those deadly Powers it once wielded with Impunity.
Friday Futures #7- Give Fire some GAS
Here we are again, another Friday another futures card. This week though, with spoiler season happening, I’m going to throw out a few different card concepts to hopefully make fire do FIRE things once again!
All of these cards have yet to grace us in cardboard form, though some do have counterparts in chapters. I think most are pretty fairly balanced, but also give fire the ability to start punching up as opposed to at the knees of other decks. It’s been known fore quite some time that fire is meme worthy, or at best a splash element in the game. However, with the designs below, I want to give fire the power (get it fire-power..I’m so clever) to be able jumpstart itself back into the meta. With all the Veritas’, Chelinkas’, Leila's’, and even the Vikings plundering our world, I wanted to go Dracarus and set fire to everything we once knew about FIRE.

Rouge tomato is probably too pushed but, hey it attack of the killer tomato and deserves some love. Truthfully, there isn’t any flavor in this card either, I just really enjoyed this guy being the first “Mark” you ever had to face and if you beat him you get to “move forward” in the game…..that equals haste right…..who cares it’s a fun design.
For Bahamut ZERO, I wanted to create a card that would rival diabolos (That is better than Phoenix) and was modal. I probably pushed this card as well, but I think fire has to make a larger stride to be a mono element deck currently. I also wanted it to be the ZERO version as it was the final version of Bahamut you could acquire in FF7 and made it feel like it was worth it at a L spot.
For Banon, after tossing the idea around with the rest of the returners, I settled on the skip attack step concept. I initially wanted it to be remove the top 10 cards from game, but there is already to much RFG in fire as a drawback, and with their leader gone, how can the returners attack that turn anyway? SO FLAVOR WIN THERE. As for the buff, it looks like we are slowly getting anthem effects for certain jobs or categories moving forward, and this is just a perfect fit for the current FF6 archetype.
