Friday Futures #5- Adel and Ellone
This week I wanted to give you folks a treat, and with that decided to do a two-fer. I have been holding off doing a FF8 card so far because it’s my favorite game (aside from tactics) and I wanted to do it justice even if it’s just a fun Friday thing. That being said, I wanted to still keep the designs to named characters in the game and now go down the rabbit whole of making Wendigo and Buel cards…..SO, I’ve decided to go with two characters that have large roles to play, but not a lot of camera time (Much like have of Endgame) . That being said, I give you Adel and Ellone!
____________________________________________________
Adel- Forward 6CP Wind
Job- Witch
Power- 7k
Rarity- Hero
If you control a card named “Rinoa” Adel gains +3k and Haste.
(1) Tap: Remove a card named “Rinoa” from your break zone, if you do, choose 1 dull forward your opponent controls, break it.
______________________________________________________
Ellone- Backup 4CP Wind
Job-Seer
Rarity- Uncommon
When Ellone enters the field you may look at your opponent’s hand. If they have 3 or more forwards in their hand activate a forward you control, 3 or more summons draw a card, 3 or more monsters return 1 card of cost 2 or less from your break zone to your hand, and 3 or more backups activate 1 backup you control.

I wanted to play with Adel, but I realized it is very similar to the Chapters version. However, being that the versions of Rinoa that we currently have are all in ice, I figured the pseudo Emperor effect on a forward could be fun in ice/wind. It also plays well into the lore of Adel wanting to absorb Rinoa, so removing copies of the game seemed like a win win.
As for Ellone, I really wanted to use her “look into the past” ability, but didn’t want it to be a look at the top cards of your deck effect. I know in the game she can’t actually manipulate the past so I didn’t want the outcomes to be to game changing for her effect. I think the balance on this card design is there abut than again it might just be my response to mono water/wind/ or wiwa constantly having a full grip and then some.
