Maechen

Everyone loves story time with Grandpa Right. Hearing about way back when soda cost a nickel and you had to walk uphill both ways to get to the local sock hop. Sitting there starry eyed as gramps would pontificate on how the world used to be a better place, filling you with long lost nostalgia you never knew existed. Yeah…..that’s what Maechen is here to do.

Maechen had a soft spot in my heart since I first met him in FF-X. He was just an old dude wanting to tell you how it used to be. A wealth of knowledge just looking for someone to listen. It’s actually kind of sad when you realize that the guy was so engrossed with learning and research he forgot he died and lived on as an unset for ages.  Yet another tragic story in the world of Spira.  When designing this card, I wanted Maechen’s penchant for wisdom and knowledge to be apparent, but didn’t want to give water more toolbox cards in general. I felt that fire or ice would be a good element fit for the card as well since Wind and Water already had a fair amount of X searchers and we do have some support of X category in fire and ice. Plus, I wanted to give fire/ice the ability to manipulate their deck a little more to be on par with water. Anyway, let’s see what Maechen does already!
