Hojo

Often in games there is some egg-head out there ruining the very world that they are trying to perfect. Some crazy plan to gain ultimate power or to create the perfect beast ends up causing the spiral that leads to the birth of the baddy, thus giving us our main plot line. Thank Jenova that FF7 decided to give us all of that in our good ol’ friend Hojo!

I felt it only right to pay homage to the man who created one of the most widely-known villains ever. Besides doing all his secret science experiments and trying to create a master race by breeding Red XIII and Aerith together, this guy was just twisted. The forms he takes on throughout the various battles just makes it all the more sickening. I wanted to make Hojo seem like he was always progressing, and I think that was uniquely done in the card design. I also figured this card should be a Hero because any man that can chill on a beach in a lab coat with cuties is not half bad in my book. Let’s be honest, Hojo was the original “Mister Steal Your Girl.” (Watch out, Greg Cole.)

Since Hojo’s research focused so heavily on the Jenova cells, I also wanted that to be a prominent feature on the card. Watching people become monsters before your eyes was just too cool of a concept to pass up, and ultimately it gave way to some very interesting design space. Hope you guys enjoy!

When Hojo enters the field, your opponent selects 1 forward they control equal to the amount of damage you have received and puts it into the break zone.

(S) tap; Jenova Infusion- you may select 1 forward you control and place it into the break zone, if you do you may play a forward onto the field for free with cost that is 1 plus the broken forwards cp.
