let's talk fftcg!
Every week, there is something new to discuss and analyze in this game. In this feature, we answer your questions and respond to recent developments, new meta decks, specific cards we like or don't like -- you call it, we'll answer.
If you want to join the conversation, send us your thoughts! We would also love to hear the questions you have next week, so please shoot us a message at Facebook or on Twitter. Thanks for reading!
This week, we are headed into the Lightning Crystal Cup and talking about our thoughts leading into the tournament.
What deck would you bring to the Lightning Crystal Cup?
CHRIS: I'd probably take something safe, like mono wind, or maybe I'd take earth wind to take dadaluma for one more spin!
AUSTIN: Most likely wind ice because it's what I've been playing. However, I was really fond of the agri-ice deck and I think that could spike into day 2 and I'm confident in my drafting ability.
ADAM L: Tough Right now I think Ice is in a very good spot so I would be looking at Ice Earth. I think you will see a good amount of those decks as well as your normal wind variants
ADAM D: There isn’t anywhere I wouldn’t take Mono Wind.
What deck archetype do you think will win the Lightning Crystal Cup?
CHRIS: It's hard to say. Depends on who is in that top 8! But if I have to pick, I'm gonna say wind earth.
AUSTIN: Probably mono water or ice water, though Earth ice can always take it.
ADAM L: I'm picking Ice/Earth because i think its one of the best decks so I expect it to win the RVA Crystal Cup. The Earth cards do a great job of hiding Icd's weaknesses and Sephiroth is super strong right now as indicated by his price tag.
ADAM D: If this is a Vegas question, I’m thinking it will be Wind / Water. It’s too smooth and it’s got too much card advantage to ignore. But, in my heart, I feel like it will be Ice / Water or possibly even Earth / Water.
What do we need to see from Class Zero Cadets to make the archetype competitive?
CHRIS: Cards that are less fair. If I want to play a deck with big bodies I would just play mono earth
AUSTIN: More protection. It's still too "white weeny" right now. I think while seven is great she needs help.
ADAM L: More payoff for the synergy. Scions is really good because the payoff is good. Just being big isnt good enough look at XV Mono Earth. Its an OK deck but very fair. I do like some of the new cadets I am seeing though. They will for sure get a boost in title format
ADAM D: Something unfair. I think starter Ace is the only thing that makes that deck gain an advantage beyond normal synergies that we see from other decks but aren’t enough to compete. Or, maybe the new 1 CP Rem is enough.
Which card is next to be banned?
CHRIS: Hopefully it's Zidane H. That card needs to go.
AUSTIN: Y'shtola.
ADAM L: I personally think it needs to be Zidane H. It's very intrusive and sometimes just flat out wins games on turn 2-3. Thoughtseize on a body turned out to be pretty good. Who woulda thought?
ADAM D: It could be Zidane H from Opus III. The ability to recur that card’s effect can take over a game. I wouldn’t be shocked if it were Diabolos, not because it’s an issue but because it would lower the risk of playing a lot of Forwards that you don’t play today in fear of a blowout by Diabolos.
Who do you think will win the Lightning Crystal Cup?
CHRIS: The Richmond community wins because we get to have this event in our own backyard! As for the event itself, it's hard to say, it's a field full of killers. But it's clearly gonna be Top 8 Jonny!
AUSTIN: Whoever plays a Yang that fights... Honestly, I don't know. It's going to be a field of killers though and through but I'm putting money on one of our RVA boys.
ADAM L: Okimoto has been putting in the time and I think this may be his time. He's a stellar player and I know he's put in the reps to take down the tournament. I'd love to see VA defend the house though.
ADAM D: I think this Crystal Cup will go well with a side of ranch, so I’m leaving that order up to Hunter Nance.
